Costa Rica for Destination Weddings

Posted December 18, 2014

Costa Rica is a stunningly beautiful destination. For destination weddings however there are some challenges. Here’s some considerations for planning a destination wedding in Costa Rica.

Limited flights and overnight stop over’s

As Costa Rica isn’t as popular (perhaps yet) as other destinations there’s not the same availability of regular flights with the major tour operators. From Canada to Liberia (LIR). For example there may only be one flight per week. Instead of daily flights to Mexico for instance.

It may also mean overnight stop over’s when travelling from smaller Cities.

Bang for your buck

When compared to other destinations: Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic. For the same price per person you’re probably not getting as higher standards in Costa Rica. (Room quality, Service, Food & Beverage). This is partly due to the higher cost of flights to Costa Rica. Something to consider when looking at different counties to tie the knot in.

Limited number of 5 star all inclusive accommodation

Unlike other Caribbean destinations there isn't dozens of Resorts to choose from, in fact there’s only a handful available with group booking contracts. See below for links to a few different resorts we’re familiar with.

Group rates are available

Major tour operators do have offer group package pricing for a number of all inclusive reosrts in Costa Rica. Here’s a selection of them to check out:

Also to note, there is a brand new Dreams Resort (http://www.dreamsresorts.com/las-mareas) is scheduled to open November 2014 which will also be available for group bookings and it looks AMAZING! If other dreams properties are anything to go by this will be a great option for couples familiar with the high standards of the AM Resorts brand and also looking at Costa Rica.
